In Talaingod, heirloom rice is still very much alive.

These are rice varieties that the Ata Manobo have kept in cultivation across generations, together with the knowledge of the land, seasons, seeds, and farming practices that come with them.

We joined the community for the 2nd Heirloom Rice Festival, still a young celebration, but an important one. Because the future of heirloom rice depends on people continuing to plant it, value it, eat it, and pass the knowledge on.

Seeing the festival in its second year gives us even more reason to be excited about what Talaingod is building around its heirloom rice. The varieties are here, the knowledge is here, and most importantly, the people who continue to grow them are here.

There is so much potential in bringing greater recognition and opportunity to what the community has already been cultivating for generations.

Daghang salamat to the Ata Manobo community of Talaingod for welcoming GreenBridge and allowing us to celebrate this year’s harvest with you.
